PREDIF President

Francisco José Sardón Peláez has dedicated his life to defend equal opportunities for people with disabilities. He always knew that he wanted to work defending the rights of people with disabilities and to create services that might encourage their active and inclusive participation in society.

Since 1988, following a car accident that led to a serious spinal cord injury that left him quadriplegic, he knew that he wanted an inclusive social life, which is why he was a founding member and helped to create the Castile-and-León chapter of ASPAYM (Association of people with spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities) in 1992. Since then, he has held various management roles within the association, first, as General Secretary, then as President for 8 years (from 2004 to 2012). He directed ‘Avances’ magazine which deals with the practicalities of people with disabilities, and since then has worked in many other leadership roles in other associations. He was President of the Castile-and-Leon chapter of CERMI (Spanish Committee of Representatives for the Disabled) between 2013 and 2019.
