Ledesma
Journalist and Board Member of PREDIF
Juan Antonio Ledesma (Madrid, 1970) has a degree in Information Sciences from the Faculty of Journalism at the Complutense University in Madrid. His professional career started in 1993 at the Servimedia news agency, where he rose to become its Editor in Chief.
In 2000, he was part of the founding team of “SOLIDARIDAD DIGITAL” and was its Director for five years.
He combines print journalism with his calling for radio. His radio career started on the microphones of Spanish National Radio (RNE). He was a daily contributor to “Un mundo sin barreras” (A barrier-free world), on ONDA CERO. He headed the social information section “La misma vida” (Life itself), on ABC PUNTO RADIO.
He also provided coverage for ABC PUNTO RADIO at the Peking and London Paralympics of 2008 and 2012 respectively. During the Rio Olympics of 2016, he also provided coverage for the “EL PAÍS” newspaper. Presently, he has made a return to the microphones of RNE, in the news section “Para que veas” (For you to see), focusing on information concerning disability.
He is the co-author and editor of “Imagen Social de la Discapacidad. Estudios en homenaje a José Julián Barriga Bravo – Social Image of Disability. Studies in tribute to José Julián Barriga Bravo” (Published by Ediciones Cinca 2008). He also authored “Activistas. 15 historias de vida de activistas de la discapacidad – Activists. 15 life stories of disability activists” published by CERMI in 2012.
He currently chairs CERMI’s Media and Social Image of Disability Committee in addition to the Support Committee for the Social Image of People with Disabilities in the Media.
He is a Board Member of ASPAYM Granada, the ASPAYM National Federation and PREDIF (the Spanish Representative Platform for People with a Physical Disability). He is also a member of the Spanish National Disability Council.
